York Minster was built between 1154 and 1472. It is the largest Gothic church in northern Europe and the largest medieval building in England.

The Minster is a major landmark building and glimpses of it can be gained from many parts of the city (see Images A1 to A6 below for a few examples).

The exterior of the Minster building contains a wealth of fascinating architectural and sculptural details and a few of these are illustrated via Images B1 to B4 below. The interior is equally fascinating but, to respect the sanctity of the Minster, photographs of the interior are not being uploaded here.
